Design Process

People often wonder how hiring a landscape designer will work. It is my aim to make this an easy process that will help you create a yard that is both beautiful and functional. A typical project will usually involve the following steps:

Initial consultation

I will come out to your home and discuss your garden needs. We will look at your landscape and you can share your wish list and project scope. I will give you feedback and ideas. We will discuss budget and my fee structure. This visit is charged at a hourly rate but will be complimentary if you decide to proceed and retain my services.

Site Measurement and Analysis

I will measure, analyze site conditions and existing elements. From this information I will create a base plan with which to work.

Preliminary Conceptual Design

I will draw a proposed layout includng hardscape and planting areas. We will meet together to discuss the proposed design and to get your feedback. At this point we will also start to look at materials and plant palette. We can take field trips to research hardscape materials and plants.

Master Plan

This will be the final plan and will include layout, materials and a planting plan. This will be used for the bid process with a landscape contractor.

Construction

I will assist you in finding the right contractor for your project. Together we will analyze the estimates for the project. I will liaise with the contractor, supervise the plant quality and layout and help realize our original vision for your landscape.
